People looking for Pashto instructional/audio materials might want to check out the Interlit Foundation, which offers some instructional materials with (purportedly) 60 hours of audio. The same outfit also sells materials for Dari. Here's the page for their Pashto materials:

Hey guys, been lurking for a few weeks.
What a coincidence. I'm currently learning Pashto and was directed to Dr. Tegey's lessons through PashtoStudent's YouTube channel. Like the OP I couldn't find the audio for them, and even asked PashtoStudent if he had them. Answer: He hadn't even tried to get hold of them. I gave up on trying to find them. What a pleasant surprise when today, as I was just casually lurking the forum, I stumbled upon this thread.
Thanks a lot. Just a note, there are a few corrupted exercises in lesson 1, exercises one and three I think. I downloaded the same exercises from internet archive and they worked fine. You might want to reupload the first zip.
Did you find them yet? :) The thing is, the audio from internet archive is for the "Pashto Conversation" textbook, not for "Beginning Pashto" and "Intermediate Pashto". Would be very grateful if anyone has, or can get hold of, the audio for these textbooks.
I've actually bought the material from Interlit, though I haven't received it yet. Shipping was pretty expensive since I live in Europe, let's hope it's worth it. There is a Pashto dictionary included in the bundle I bought, I think I'll stick with that for a while. If it turns out I simply can't get enough of Pashto, I might go for the Dunwoody Press dictionary later on. There is also an online dictionary at http://www.achakzai.de/j/ for anyone interested. Not the best, but it works out. They've also got a free English-Pashto program available there, it's pretty good but doesn't seem to work very well in Windows 7. Crashes after a few minutes. Luckily it only takes seconds to look up a word, so I can manage ;). Finally I think Pimsleur has a Pashto level 1 program coming out in September 2010. Further to the above thread, I wrote to the Center for Applied Linguistics several weeks ago and asked about the audio for the Pashto materials; I got an answer indicating that they no longer distributed the materials, which were now distributed by Diplomatic Language Services in Arlington, Va. http://www.dls-inc.com/ I wrote to them asking about the materials, but got no response. (It may be that I used an incorrect e-mail address, so I'll probably try again, although I'm not all that optimistic.)
In the meantime, I see that audio for the Pashto Newspaper Reader produced by Dunwoody Press in 1984 seems to be available here: http://languagelab.bh.indiana.edu/pashto_news.html The book is still available from Dunwoody, along with the audio. Finally, for anyone contemplating shelling out the money for Dunwoody's Pashto-English dictionary that I mentioned in an earlier posting, some sample pages can be seen here: http://www.dunwoodypress.com/148/PDF/PashtoDictionary_sample .pdf All in all, it seems that tracking down materials for Pashto, especially with audio, is a fairly frustrating affair; it's clear that some useful materials have been produced, but availability is another story entirely. 3 persons have voted this message useful | |||||||||

Sorry for necromancing this post... I just want to confirm this: ex1 and 3 in Lesson 1 are corrupt and need to be reloaded from the internet archive. In Lesson 7 the ex3 seems to be also corrupt; just reload like the other two (only the .ra version seems to be available, no .mp3). 1 person has voted this message useful |
