I've been going through Dictionary of Basic/Intermediate/Advanced Japanese Grammar
series, and I gotta say. I really love the books. Does anyone know of a similar styled
book for French, or any other languages for that matter? For those unfamiliar with the
books, they basically list all the different words with special grammatical usages,
with
examples and explanations of the relevant grammar rules. For example, one entry looks
like (paraphrased):
間 (during, while)
ex. I died while Bob was eating. - 私はボブが食べている間に死んだ。
1. The subject for the subordinate clause can be different than the main clause. When
different, the subject of the subordinate clause is marked by が.
2. If the action expressed in the main clause is a punctual verb, or took place over
only a subset of the time from the action in the subordinate clause, に goes after 間.
etc.
Words are in alphabetical order, so it works really well as a reference, but honestly
it's thorough enough I like it for my regular learning. Anyone familiar with other
similar books?
