Hey, folks,
If anyone is interested and has an iPod Touch, iPhone or iPad, some of the Babbel
language apps are free. I use the German and Swedish ones just for vocabulary expansion,
and the exercises make it easy to remember the words. The ones that are full and free
are: Spanish, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, Swedish and English. They have the
Light versions of Polish, Turkish, Dutch and Indonesian for free but obviously these
aren't the full programs. Although I am not currently learning French, Italian or
Portuguese I'm going to download them anyway, before the company start charging for them,
lol.
Anyway, hope you find these useful.

I downloaded one of the apps, but it reminded me too much of Rosetta Stone. The sound quality is average and so is the vocabulary selection. The only positive thing about them is that they're free. BTW, they're huge (90-116 MB) and you need create a Babbel account to save your progress.

Got to the app store and search for Michel Thomas. There is a free download for an app that is essentially the foundation course in German, french, Spanish. The app itself is free but you have to buy the hours as it were. I have Michel Thomas German foundation course on disk. I'm still going to buy the last 4 hours of it for the app though (£10.99) as it has a few features I think will help me retain the information.
It seems a little expensive but looking at the demo, and reading the reviews, I think it will be worth it in the long run.
