Many times I have tried to find some logic on how names of cities in Finland get their
translation from/to Swedish. Sometimes it seems as if some logic was applied, for instance: Pasila - Böle Rastila - Rastböle Helsinki - Helsingfors Vantaankoski - Vandaforsen Tampere - Tammerfors But other times, it is just a completely different word: Ruotsinpyhtää - Strömfors Turku - Åbo I don't know Swedish, so most probably I'm missing something here. Probably there is no naming convetion but I would like to know if anybody knows anything about this. 1 person has voted this message useful | |
