I have read a few posts on the forum, about the L-R method, and I am interested in trying it. My native language is Spanish, but I now live in U.S and excellent English, I go to College here. I took french two years in High school but do not need to take a language in college. I want to become fluent in french. I listen to french artists, and I know a few things since there is a degree of similarity between french and Spanish.

To do the L-R method, i believe one needs to read a book one loves in one's native language, correct?

I was thinking One hundred years of Solitude, by Marquez, or The Bad Girl by Vargas Llosa, or Eleven Minutes by Coelho. These are all translated into french, but I am having trouble finding an audiobook in french. So i was wondering if anyone knew any books that do have a french audiobook version. The translation can be Spanish to french, or English to french.

Sorry if I am causing confusion.

In a nutshell, I want to implement the L-R Method to learn french but am having trouble choosing a book.

Thanks,

Jen

There are lots of French audio books, but you might need to get them from Amazon.fr if you don't live near a good foreign language bookshop.
L'étranger by Albert Camus is often recommended on this forum as a good starting point as it's fairly simple in terms of the writing style. I own copies of the French Audio, the French book and an English translation, so it's definitely available.

It's almost certainly too short. You'll want at least 20 hours of audio; 40 to be safe.

Use it, but not only it.

I think (I'm not an expert) that it's better to use books that were originally written in French, and translated into Spanish/English, rather than the other way round. Partly because it's easier to find the corresponding audio.
