I think I read it's a good idea to use classics because, as a general rule, they have more literal translations, but of course you should read whatever you like. I think she also suggested saving easier materials for reading, which is to be done after L-R. I read nearly all the 50-something pages of the infamous thread; it's long enough to be a book in itself! =P
