This is my first post. I am looking for some videos in German (I am at an "advanced beginner" level if that is possible). The thing is my life is sort of chaotic right now and I don't have a lot of time to work on my German and I am trying to find ways of maintaining what I know and do a little bit of progress in a fun way. I am looking for some videos/films/tv series in German that would be :
-available with subtitles so I could follow the action (and the subtitles should match what is said... not always the case with movies!)
-something at least a little bit fun (not the news from 1965...)
-available in canada (I am in Montreal)
-not too hard to follow : that is a problem with many movies/tv show : people speak too fast or with accents that I can't understand
Anybody has ideas? I know I am quite difficult but I thought : if anybody can help me, it is you guys!

Lindenstraße
I’m not sure this is what you’re looking for, but it’s the only thing that I know of that at least covers some of your requests:
- if you want, you can visualize the subtitles (and they are rather faithful, though not 100% faithful);
- it’s a kind of soap opera, which you may or may not like, but at least it’s not decade-old news!
- I can watch it in Italy, so I hope you can watch it in Canada as well;
- as for its difficulty, you have to judge for yourself, I’m afraid.
As of today there are about 50 half-hour episodes available online, and on the website you can read a lot of further information about the show, the characters, and the storyline.
Good luck with your German and let us know how you like these videos, or others you may find!

If you find the user "magauchsein" on youtube, they have tons of videos for German
learners (and some other languages too).
You can search for "Easy German", which I think they have like 15-20 in that series. They
do interviews with German people on the streets so you get to see how real everyday
German in spoken (German and English subtitles included).
They also have students who make independent projects at the school in Munich there,
which are also great.
Give it a try!

Deutsche Welle has loads of resources for learning and practicing German:
Deutsche Welle learn German page
Near the bottom of the page is a "web soap" for learning German:
Jojo sucht das Glück
You can watch the videos with or without subtitles, and can download them as well.
