Does anyone know the name of a decent english-bengali dictionary that utilizes transliteration, ie romanization? If it went both directions (e-b b-e) that would be best but I would be happy with e-b at this time as long as the bengali words are not solely script.
Thanks!

Hey,
Thanks for the reply. I've tried VB but they really aren't that extensive. I am also looking for a real dictionary. I searched via amazon and didnt have a whole lot of luck with that. I wound up going through their used book partners and found one that had decent reviews and didnt break the bank account - I actually found e-b dictionaries between 100-500 US$. What the heck?!
I offered to help VB out but no reply, so I may make my own when the day comes I'm able to do so :)
Thanks!

Well, I've had a look at the 'Further reading' section in my TY Bengali book & it say most English-Bengali dictionaries aren't that good, as they tend to give descriptions of the English word in Bengali instead of a translation. However, they say Ghulam Murshid's Bengali-English-Bengali dictionary is good, although it's most probably all in script.
This link contains links to a few Bengali mono-lingual dictionaries & a Bengali-English dictionary by Samsad. Apparently there is an English-Bengali dictionary that is meant to be available from November 2007 but it stil isn't there.
Apart from that TY Bengali also mentions Essential Everyday Bengali which has an extensive glossary.
Well, that's all I could find. Let me know if it helps. And could I ask why do you want a dictionary in romanised Bengali rather than script?

This is an old thread, but maybe someone checking it out might be interested:
Try this--of course, it's written IN Bangla. Not only that, it's written in 1857 (??). But hey, it's free and it's better than
most dictionaries on the market.
