What else then if it's not French? If someone is in the right mind than his second or third language will be French,
in my opinion.

To have an excuse to go through French in Action and watch Mireille and Robert get it on with Professor Capretz's guidance. What other reason do you need?

My sister is learning it, and to learn it with her would not only be better, since she's been studying on and off for a number of years, but it would be one more thing that will bring us closer. With both our lives going off in different directions (I'm starting college; she's finishing her second bachelor's and married) I feel that learning French together would be the one thing that would stay consistent in our changing lives. I love my sister, so anything that bridges us is great.
Of course, the French language itself appeals to me. It's pronunciation is a challenge that calls to me. Grammar and vocabulary is close to my Spanish, which eases the hard task ahead. It's also the first foreign language I encountered and the first language I ever said, "Hey, I want to learn this!" Yet at the same time, French is exotic, wild. My sister learning it is just the thing that pushed me to sit down and study it while than putting it off for the future.

Reasons for learning French might be:
Their culture.
English has been influenced by French a huge amount of English words have French origin, so that might be a reason.
In my case, it borders my native language linguistically.
Their ''haute cuisine''! YUM!
For Canadians, it's spoken in Quebec, though with some differences.
It has a rich history.
That's all I can think of now.
