I've studied French for awhile. I had a lot of it in school, and I'm probably one of the few where most of it sunk in.

I feel like I'm in an awkward transitional phase between B1 and B2.

It's incredibly awkward as I feel I understand a lot. However it's so ridiculous. I study and study and study and feel like I encounter nothing new. But at the same time I struggle with keeping up with television shows, and news broadcasts and such.

I feel like I'm sitting there studying the same things over and over and over again whilst not getting anywhere at all. I'm hoping I will suddenly make a breakthrough, sooner rather than later.

It's just not the same as when you first start. When you start out, you get the high - the rush of being able to say the few limited things you learn in the beginning.

Now I feel like I,m chasing that high without ever getting it. It's frustrating, but I won't give up. I know it will only be a matter of time before it clicks.

I know the click is coming. I absolutely do. I wait for anticipation day in and day out whilst dragging through all this repetitive work.

*Sigh*

Venting over. =)

If you have any tips to accelerate this process, let me know. I'd be willing to try some out . =)

My tips are: if you're not listening to French music, do it. If you are, discover new
singers that you'll enjoy. Read books, subscribe to a good magazine (I used to have a lot
of French magazines to read when I was a kid). If you can't find any joy in French and
only listen to news broadcasts (yuck) you can always just drop it.
