My Goal for French is Advanced Professional fluency, European standard C2 I hope
through achieve this using Spanish and English to leverage the vocabulary and grammar.
I'm glad I started with the "Easy" language, since I learned a lot about...well HOW I
learn best.
1) Francophone Radio- Every Day (Non stop from Lunch until Bed)
2) Fluenz French - I just started French 2 (I LOVE this software)
3) Assimil Frances Sin Esfuerzo- Refine my French Through Spanish, I will start this
program after Fluenz.
5) Tell Me More- Try to do the ENTIRE program. (I think this will be the best way for
me to pick up on the accent marks). Very good software to refine your language of
choice, but only after you have a decent base.[

Assimil is Amazing! After finishing Fluenz 1/2 I'm loving the Assimil "El Nuevo Frances sin esfuerzo". It's just a fun way to learn and the stuff sticks. My interpretation of the Assimil method.
1)Warm up listen to the last 7 lessons while shadowing each one (no book)
2)Listen to today's lesson 2-3 times, paying close attention.
3)Listen while following along the french text, once
4)Shadow and read the french text, once
5)Listen while following the Spanish text, once
6)Shadow and follow the Spanish text, once
7)Listen and read the French text, once
8)Shadow and read the French text, once
9)NO audio, compare Spanish/French line by Line
10)Read Grammer Points
11)Do exercises.
This is working GREAT for me so far.

I changed my methodology slightly now when I shadow-review the previous 9 lesson I follow along with the French text. I am officially about 1/3 through Frances sin esfuerzo. Lesson 33 :)

I've absolutely fallen in love with Assimil, I definitely have to pick up Franes Perfecionado now.

In Addition to Frances Perfecionado (Spanish base) I will be buying Assimil's Business French (English base) as well. I think the latter will help me out a lot (I'm an MBA student). I'm not sure where to go after I've done all three Assimil books though; I'm curious at what level this will put me.
On another note I'm about a week off from entering the Active phase in "sin esfuerzo"

Good luck with your ambitious goal. Did you start from scratch with French? I want to tackle French myself and by then I may have Italian to help me. So I should probably keep an eye on your log :)

I took french 101 a few years back in college; I didn't get much out of it. I didn't take learning the language seriously until this year. Struggled with materials for 6 months (I didn't how HOW I learned) trying different methods here and there. Then I bit the bullet and went with fluenz back around July. I loved the course, it was a great introduction, the course is like an interactive Michel Thomas and Pimsleur mixed together; but besides the curriculum being great for a beginner, since I began speaking from day one (things that were relevant) the course gave me the confidence to move forward in my language studies. After finishing up that course I jumped into Assimil, which is my new favourite method of study.
In addition I listen to live internet radio every single day. Knowledge of English and Spanish have been a tremendous help as well. So yes I pretty much started from scratch this year...and can now hold a fairly decent conversation. Thank you for your kind words and encouragement.
