I've decided to do FSI Basic 1+2 after Assimil. There is just an amazing amount of audio
and grammar that when combined with Assimil will will give one a VERY level of command.
Assimil will give me Business and Colloquial abilities while FSI will give me a solid
Formal language. AWESOME...(I'm using FSI FAST French's audio to supplement, listening to
the conversations it has is kind of fun)

I got a hold of the Michel Thomas Advanced course. My Passive abilities are approximately
C1 but I really need to work on speaking Grammatically correct French I keep using my
Spanish grammar as a crutch. Hopefully MT French will help me correct this. Oh after
speaking with a few native speakers, all have commented that they can't place my accent.
"Not bad" somewhere between Spanish and English (which makes sense). I think I'm going
to take the College Board CLEP exam (for kicks) and to see how high I can score.

Finished MT Advanced Disk 1 and then repeated it. OMG even though I'm in Assimil's Using
level right now, I still got a huge benefit from the first CD. With MT the grammar is
just so much more explicit. I was already able to make a link to Spanish grammar and
make corrections on a couple of ways I was structuring my sentences.

Switched it up a bit to keep things interesting. I've finished going through the FSI FAST
Metropolitan recordings and Just listened and used the drills of the first 3 Basic FSI
tapes. I'm probably going to go through the sub-Saharan FAST FSI recording drills as
well. I have the FSI French materials to be top quality. They are dry if you're an
absolute beginner. Once you are at intermediate level they become so much more enjoyable.

I've found it easier to stay focused by being unfocused. In other words use a different
course when one starts to get dry, for new found energy and then bounce back to old one
once you've had a little break. I found that this keeps me motivated.

And I am back to Assimil...Yay!!! Just did Lesson 23 of Using French (Spanish Base). I'm
probably going to take the French CLEP just to see how well I do, aiming for a "12
credits" score...Just for fun. Next summer I'm going to my local Alliance Francais and
aiming for B2 DELF or C1 DALF...Ahh the Joys of speaking Spanish and English and getting
free access to so much French... :P

J'aime bien ton blog. Il m'encourage beaucoup parce que je suis en train d'apprendre le français utilisant le livre
d'apprentissage d'Assimil "New French with Ease". En ce moment, j'étudie la trente-neuvième leçon. En plus, j'utilise
aussi "French in Action".

à le fin du premier livre, je vais commander le deuxième livre, 'Using French".

Merci beaucoup!!! Je trouve j'ai besoin de la pratique, mais je suis très heureux de mon progresse. I am now working my way through all the FSI French Basic tapes, I am
currently on Tape 3 of Unit 3.
