I think that a lot of emphasis and stress is placed on the vowels. And like someone said before, you have to teach
yourself to keep a loose mouth and to pronounce the vowels in the back.
All in all, I think the best description of a Russian accent is the very loose and smooth sound with trilled R's and it
sounds like each consonant is pronounced individually and very clearly.

Now how would you describe the Standard American English accent?

Well, Russian with thick English accent is ununderstandable. I won't be original if I say
that Americans pronounce vowels wider than Englishmen, and this is audible. In general,
English is not usually considered beautiful language, but I'm quite used to it. Although,
to my mind, the difference between American and British pronunciation is not as big as
between them and Scottish or Irish, for example. English speech often sounds unclear
because of retroflex "r", alveolar consonants and maybe something else.

To my ears, French spoken with a Russian accent is very beautiful. The sounds are formed lower in the throat by Russian speakers than they are by a native French and it produce a deeper and richer sound that I really enjoy (the rolled "r" is also a nice feature).

I grew up around British movies/TV shows, as in 'Mr. Bean' 'Last of the summer's wine' ect. I can understand and imitate the British accent, as well as others.
I really like the Russian accent. But I'm not sure if this is a stereotype or not, but when Russian speak English they somethimes forget to add the words: the, a, and an. is that true?
