Hello, I was wondering if anyone had made use of their iPod Touch as a dictionary. To me
it seems like a fantastic option with the ability to type a word rather than flip through pages (not to mention the size). I was wondering if anyone knew of a good English-German iPod dictionary. It would be preferable if it also included context sentences. I've really only come across the "Collin's" version so far, so any information would be helpful. 1 person has voted this message useful | |

I prefer Langenscheidt's to Collin's.
They both have: * lots of idioms and usage examples * conjugation info for each entry * the ability to jump to any word within a definition But Langenscheidt's also has: * a flash card feature (which I basically just use as a "bookmark" feature) * native pronunciations for many entries and I also find it easier to navigate. If you're at an intermediate or advanced level, you might find the free Kindle app for iPhones and iPods useful, because it comes with a free monolingual English dictionary and it'll download a monolingual German dictionary for free when you use the dictionary lookup feature with any German ebook.
(The German dictionary is the 2011 Duden - Deutsches Universalwörterbuch and the English dictionary is the 2005 New Oxford American Dictionary.) 1 person has voted this message useful |
