I started learning mandarin as I want to learn an Asian language, but now I,m not so sure that I could live
in china. I still think mandarin is the best choice though. However Japan and Korea have nicer living
conditions, but most people learning mandarin for biz probably don't care too much about that.

People learn mandarin for money or culture, not to live in a nice environment.

Even though I don't want to live in china until conditions improve, the language will prove useful in the
future. Otherwise I would choose the second most useful Asian languages, Japanese, malay or Hindi.
