When I am asked, I tell people that I am half Danish because my grandparents were Danish and I grew up with a lot of the culture. As an American I have other strands but Danish is the only strand that is linguistic and cultural. As a matter of fact, my children tell people they are a quarter Danish and they want to visit relatives in Denmark - the Danish strand is strong!
