I don't think Americans are fun to listen to; they generally don't know anything about soccer

Perhaps it's because they're watching the wrong sport. It's actually called football ;)

I've tried (half-heartedly) for years to like football and I just can't. Americans' attention spans are too short for a sport with such infrequent scoring. ;-) However, I really like T20 cricket. I think that sport could work in the US. Perhaps it's just the area I live in/company I keep now, but the World Cup does seem to be gaining fans in the US.

This has nothing at all to do with language learning, but I think you raised an interesting point. I have noticed that when my American friend's discuss the world cup their focus is on the final scored, whereas when my British friends discuss matches they focus more on the unfolding game play. So, this is another example of savouring the journey or focusing just on the destination.

Is anyone in the US able to get broadcasted non-English World Cup feeds (satellite?) or do you just watch online?

I *love* watching the World Cup in German, especially when the German team is playing, because the German
commentators get sooo excited they can barely keep up with their own words, and then when somebody scores, it's
always: "TOOOOOOOORRRRRR!!!" ;)

What it must be interesting is that if someone is inside the stadium, they might meet many supporters from all around the world and then have endless conversations with them throughout the competition.

As far as I know South Africa now has many tourists mostly from Holland, Mexico, Argentina, Australia, America, South Korea, Japan and England.

This morning I was listening to the game between the USA and Slovenia in Spanish and it occurred to me that soccer is much more exciting in Spanish than it is in English. Having listened to games on the radio in Brazil long ago, I also remember it being better in Portuguese.

In which language do you prefer to listen to sports?

Lol... No language is better...... You sound racist or at least language-ist.
