I like Argentinian commentators and Colombian narrators.

British English suits the game well, at least the northern accents. But I can't imagine a commentator speaking with a "posh" southern accent. That would be outright hilarious.

French commentators can be very funny. I laughed with tears once, when some commentator started shouting in a hysterical high-pitched voice.

Bulgarian commentators sound "normal" to me. I suppose they can be equally hilarious for sb who is not a native speaker of the language.

On a side not, I think the recent "strike" of French players is also very funny. It's sad really, but also a typical French thing to do. If the French don't go on strike, then who? ;).

By the way, for all learners out there, the best English football radio is BBC 5 Live, and the best French one - Europe 1. Personally, I'm not a big football fan but I find it more interesting in a foreign language.

The French were a disgrace, along with the Italians and the English. This has been Latin America's World Cup. The Africans were also a disappointment.

Here are links to live feeds of Colombian TV stations. I don't know if they show the games online though, given asinine copyright restrictions:

This morning I was listening to the game between the USA and Slovenia in Spanish and it occurred to me that soccer is much more exciting in Spanish than it is in English. Having listened to games on the radio in Brazil long ago, I also remember it being better in Portuguese.

In which language do you prefer to listen to sports?

Lol... No language is better...... You sound racist or at least language-ist.

What does this have to do with race? I've only mentioned that soccer commentators are not as exciting in English (my native language) as they are in Spanish or Portuguese. I am confused as to how this could be perceived as racism.

On ESPN, they advertise you can listen to the games in other languages on their website (not sure if it's ESPN.com, ESPN360.com, or some other site.)

I think that the French Canadian commentators are boring and, moreover, they sometimes did some mistakes (said
the wrong reason for a penalty, mixed up players, thought that the replay of a goal was a real goal, etc.) … I didn't
watch a lot of French French football games but I'm pretty convinced they are way better and way more
exciting!

I did listen to a game of Spain on RNE and thought the commentator was energetic! But not as extreme as that
Brazilian though :P …
