In the little bit I have studied so far, I prefer the TY course. That is because of the many conversations. I am mainly focusing on understanding the conversations, memorizing their meanings, and learning their pronunciation.
The Hugo course seems good as far as it goes. Even though there are sample sentences and dialogues, the vast majority of it is based on teaching grammar. That's not what I am interested in the beginning stages, but it looks like it will be beneficial at some point down the road.

I had great luck with the Teach Yourself book. I think I only made it to Lesson 7 before getting bogged down, but that was enough to give me a solid base. I brought the book to Turkey, and did a little bit over breakfast each morning and made fast progress in country.

I was about to tell you that the secret to Pimsleur is to buy a used copy on Amazon for $100 US, then use the "buy back" program to sell it back for $60 to $70. This works for most European languages. But I just checked, and oh wow is Pimsleur Turkish expensive!!! $170 for a used copy, and only $14 for the buy-back. I'd keep an eye on it to see if the price drops ...
