Can anyone recommend a good website for Japanese TV programmes that's accessible from the US?
Rather than just provide live streaming, the website needs to store programmes for at least a few weeks, so that I can return to them in my studies. I'm particularly looking for realistic colloquial contemporary dialogue, so fun series and modern dramas would be ideal. The free version of this site has only one channel, but the video quality is good. If you get a test pattern check the time. Oops, but wait, reading again, this is streaming. It doesn't have stored programs. I think the main legal site for Japanese TV in the USA is crunchyroll.com -- but this is mostly anime. Thanks to everyone for all the great links!! I've started watching a detective series called "Monsters" over on Dramacrazy.net and am enjoying it so far (although I only pick out a few words at best of course). Please keep your suggestions rolling in... :)
It seems like the bulk of the programmes I've found so far are either anime, period dramas that remind me of my trip to Edo Wonderland, or clearly targeted at a teenage girl market. ;) Ideally, I'm on the lookout for a series where I can imitate the speech patterns and voice of a normal modern adult Japanese guy, and which might be more oriented towards a male or at least mixed audience. I don't know about male of mixed audience, but I've always liked the series called "Love Shuffle", because unlike most series that I couldn't even bear to watch until the end, this story has a couple of interesting plot twists. At least in my opinion it does. :)

here's a site for talk-variety shows. they're more useful for common/colloquial language than dramas itihnk but it also depends on what situations you're interested in. there's so many video sites for japanese media. just search 無料動画 トークバラエティ or douga + name of the talkvariety show or the drama or whateveer. I find talk/variety shows the most fun and interesting.
