Useless trying or How NOT to learn languages from Russian self-pesuaded anti-polyglot

LINKS:
in case anyone is interested in fanfics produced by
me, so far in English only
SoundCloud: my harsh pronunciation of
Russian, English, German and other languages, that'll probably appear later
sports.ru: the most "living" blog of
mine. Written in Russian, themes: F1, sometimes offtopic (like chess or music)
last.fm: music talks, English (and, rarely, Russian)
lang-8: when I'm desperate for corrections, I can post there
InterPals: I have some practice in speaking German
right now, and this is VERY hard for me, but I would gladly help as Russian native on this site
and, finally, facebook and
vk.com. On facebook you can get directly to me, but you
wouldn't know much about my interests. On vk.com you can actually see, what interests me. Of
course, most of information
over there is in Russian, but isn't that the point?

You are reading notes from chemical engineering student from Russia. I want to say that languages
are not
the thing I should improve right now. But I'm passionate person, so, maybe I'll appear here with my
notes
for some time ang then disappear for another time... I can't predict it, but it is rare case when it is
not like
this...
Hope this grammitacally terrible notes will help you not to repeat my mistakes :)
23rd April
Well, I'm wasting time for post which, I suppose, won't be take into somebody's account at all
instead of
making my homework: organic chemistry, mathematics, physics... I have only one excuse - I have
come
home from English, my last lesson today, and I have to learn all about participles until Friday. Damn!
I
can't, I just can't make myself to learn something from grammar. It's completely ridiculous! The
reason for
why I haven't catch bad mark today is... yes, I just wasn't noticed in right time. Or, speaking
normally, luck.
Thank you, my dear fate! I mean it...
I'm actually ill, my eternal problem is my nose. That's why yesterday I stayed at home and missed
Engineering Graphics lecture. I didn't missed too much, but I'm just not used to miss something at
all.
But yesterday I was hitted by German. Again. If on Sunday it was first lesson of Michel Thomas
(accent!!!),
yesterday is was 9 (or 10?) lessons of Deutsch - Warum nicht? from DW. Well. I have to admit - it is
really
funny to listen stories about journalism student working in hotel and having his own... kobold. I
haven't
knew about the very existing of this word before I started that course.
But what I was talking about? Oh, about the course filling. Yes, it is interesting, but now I only need
to
translate from German, there is absolute nothing more that I need right now! Damn, am I
completely
hopelessly alone? I think I am. Freaks are always alone...
But I have to stop myself right now. Maybe I'm writting with too many mistakes? Maybe I'm too
boring? I'm
better to shut up and further waste precious time...

24th April
After half of day I can say that I'm definitely losing my mind. All that I really done - watch first Matrix and part of second with original audio and English subs. In first time, hehe. But since there is absolutely no improvments which I can feel, I'm thinking all that I have done is called nothing.
Few days ago I read about L-R and got intersted in it. But I still do not trying to do something. Oh, just now I've dowloaded few audiobooks of Daphne du Maurier and Stefan Zweig, but I have no bilingial texts. I'm not afraid of it in case of du Maurier, but... well, I'm not sure. The main reason why I can't even normally start to learn German is, I'm afraid, English. I still have to learn so much new in English that I'm blocking myself to the other languages.
And the environment is set to kill me. I live in Siberia, actually. Everybody knows that it is quite cold there. Ha! Right now we have +16, yesterday was +25 and - the main point - we still have heating in our apartments. This situation is melting my brains... I'm still ill but in order not to go insane I'm holding plastic bottle with ice cold water near me. This is brand Russian vicious circle with no exit and no hope.
By the way, I really enjoyed from first part of Matrix. I denied to watch it for quite long time, and now I'm glad that I broke my decision not to watch it. But second part makes me bore and L-R, mathematics, chemistry is calling to get my attention. Well, I can choose nothing and try to sleep in daytime... But there was a bunch of time since I was reading something from Zweig. Maybe I shall choose an attempt of L-R? :)

Я писала в теме Do dubs help you?

It's not a lack of progress, it's a stupid uni. Moscow State Linguistic University sucks as well, btw.
Yeah, we also still have heating here in Moscow! lol.
good luck with your studies! The main thing to understand is that there are limits. If you had 6 hours you could spend on language learning (in one day), would you spend them all on English? If you wouldn't, would you spend 3 on English and 3 on German? 2 hours each for English, German, Spanish? (for example) If you want to devote more time to languages, you also need more languages:)
PS if you want corrections, I recommend posting on lang-8.com to get them:) it's also a great way to meet English (or German) native speakers learning Russian.

24th April, a bit later
So, I have tried L-R with russian text and German audio. When I started to listening and readind I realised that I haven't read this particular novel of Zweig before. I read in some explanings to methog that I should take the text that I already know, so I was aware of usefulness of this.
And what? I'm already recognising some words! If I do not trust my ears I believe to everithing I see, and this makes me feel a little bit more otimistic that I was before.
Of course, I do not hear something German for the first time in my life, I have been listen to German songs many times, I have seen 5-10 movies in German with Russian subs, and it seems to be something (though I was sure that I know nearly nothing).
I have a quetion for you, dear readers. Will it be twice helpfull if I'll be doing L-R in English (intermediate/ upper intermediate) and German (beginner)? Or it is better to do L-R with my native language?

Serpent, our OmSU is good, the problem...
Heating in Moscow? You gotta be kidding o_O And we are thinking that Moscow is not Russia after all :D
I have no certain schedule in daily life so it's problematic to separate time for languages. It all depends on my crazy mind :)
Thanks for the advice about corrections, I'll think 'bout it :)
