I thought recently about making a website selling all sorts of Italian products - flags,
scarves, specialist food and wine, guide books, etc...
I love Italy and was wondering what you thought of an E-Commerce site specifically for
this purpose?
Thanks

I think you'd find it very difficult to compete on price with the likes of Amazon for books, supermarkets for
wines, flag shops for flags etc etc.

There are certainly plenty of people interested in Italian culture but the problem is, how do you make your site
stand out from the others which will sell Italian items.
Play up the language angle perhaps?

Not to mention the built-in trust that comes with a site like Amazon.
As far as books go though, Amazon could use some improvement. Back in the 90s there was
a site - zivago.it - that was fantastic for all things printed in Italian, CDs and
DVDs. It now redirects to another publishing house and is a mere shell of what it once
was. I miss that site. If it was published in Italian, I could find it there. Not so
with Amazon.
