I need to find some telenovelas, in Spanish with English subtitles.
My wife loves soap operas, and we watched La Reina del Sur with English subtitles a couple of years ago. I bought the dvd's, but of course there are no subtitles. My Spanish has reached the point where I don't really need subtitles for some soap operas, but my wife's Spanish is at the point you would expect a Filipina's Spanish to be, she can tell time and recognize bunch of cognates, but she can't really follow it.

We regularly watch soap operas in Tagalog, and I would like to add some Spanish to our habit. There are many possible telenovelas, and I don't really care if I have to buy dvd's or chromecast it. We like romance and violence as much as the next telenovela watcher, and I like "historical" fiction.

Are there any suggestions; I hate to drive the family out of the room when I want to watch something in Spanish.

The Telemundo telenovelas, both on the website telemundo novelas and on-air cable tv have English subtitles available in Closed Caption 3. They also have accurate Spanish subtitles with CC1 option. Oddly, they don't put them on their dvd's.

Hmmn.
I never thought of using CC to get subtitles.
This may be the solution to adding Spanish to our family watching habits.
Thanks a lot for your help :)

The shows on DramaFever all have English subtitles that can be turned on or off:
