So this is something i've been talking about for a while, and seeing the success the Catalan campaign has had recently at Duolingo (a Catalan course has been unofficially announced/confirmed) has inspired me to get things a bit more organized with Basque. It's situation is actually pretty similar to that of Catalan (though a larger percentage of the population in Catalunya speaks Catalan), especially where virtually every native Basque speaker is bilingual. I feel a bit odd about this as i'm not a native Basque speaker myself and wouldn't be actively participating in the creation of the course, but there are native Basque speakers at Duolingo interested in writing a course (most likely Basque-Spanish) and i'd like to offer whatever help i can. I'm hoping i can work on a Basque-English course some day :)
I've started a Let's Make Basque Happen thread at Duolingo with the intention of organizing things a bit. There's definitely a lot of interest in this mysterious Basque language, though i think a lot of people are turned off by its perceived difficulty. It's definitely no walk in the park, but it is a really interesting language and a lot of fun to study. Anyway, i'm not sure if anyone's got ideas, support, (criticism), etc.

I put together a little "Duo goes to the Basque Country" comic thing over at Duolingo, if anyone's interested :)

I think that is great! I'm glad you posted this because it prompted me to look for other courses on Duolingo and I found Irish and Swedish. Yay! Where will all my free time go??
Basque would be amazing to have on there and I would love to study it even just for fun.
