I have the link from here somewhere(thanks a lot for who posted this link).

EDIT: I found an audio of Gone with the wind and an corresponding text version, so I added that to the material I'm using. But the woman reading GWTW ... I think she speaks three times as fast as I have heard anyone speak Italian or Spanish.

There are I know this is an old thread, but I found it through google and so it was the first thread I read on this forum.

I just met someone whose native language is Romanian and for that and other reasons I decided to take a look into it and now I am actively trying to learn it.

I never heard of this L-R technique before. Although one of my Romanian learning strategies has been to listen to the new testament in Romanian (easily downloadable for free) just for gobs of input.

So the idea of reading along the native text while listening sounds good. And then listening while looking at the English equivalent - that comes next, I guess. It's EASY to construct parallel texts using Unbound Bible.

I'm also using Pimsleur (but don't want to pay what they charge, even for the lesser expensive electronic downloads). And two or three texts/audios I found on the net, including one from Moldova and one from Romania. And, yeah, I've watched two or three Romanian films.

I don't like Harry Potter past the first book, so I imagine I'll stick to the bible for now, as I am intimately familiar with it (I can read the New Testament in Greek).

I was also able to download translations of the Twilight Saga, which might make for a nice change of pace -- but I don't know of any Romanian audios for these.
