Gracias for all the positive feedback, and please feel free to put up
more posts in Spanish as well. It's wonderful to be able to understand every word so far
in your replies (although I can't write much yet, and need to start activating it all
now). :D |

Yes, I found the same thing. I am using Practice Makes Perfect to get into bit of an
active mode in language learning now.

ahora.
** No idea how correct this is in terms of whether this is the way people speak, but I
checked with google translator and it came up with the meaning I was going for. So
that's something. **

It should look like this:
Google Translate is good for many languages to look up a single word or very common set phrases, but for sentences it is really not so great.

I look forward to writing some basic Spanish in my logs soon enough, don't you worry. ;)
However, I'm going to resist right now and use this next fortnight to prepare the way for bridging over from passive to active studies. I'm not quite ready for "going active" just yet (haha, I sound like a secret agent), and as you can imagine, there's an incredible lot to cover in between now and then.
When I start with my tutor in a couple of weeks, there'll be plenty of written work and discussion to keep me busy every day. I'll also start writing something on this forum (and perhaps on Lang-8 too) from then onwards, so keep your eyes out for my no doubt embarrassing fledgling efforts when the time comes (lol). [edit]

Hey, I think your experiment with Spanish is really fascinating and it's always cool to
see people studying Spanish. I wish you good luck on your journey to Spanish.
(I just know I made a few mistakes writing there; writing in Spanish isn't my forte. :P)

Where did you get your resources to perform this experiment? I'm interested in doing something similar myself.
