No, the Russian Without Toil was published in the fifties. I have a copy which I bought in the late sixties. It is quite different to the German edition which I have published in the seventies. This edition was never published in English. The seventies edition begins similar to the older version and then becomes quite different.

There's the Assimil English-based Russian from something like 1951 (text and audio) that is floating around the internet.
