I've finished all of Pimsleur and am working through the Vocabulearn "Expressions", which
total 750 to 1000 "handy phrases" in audio (mp3) which I've been chopping up and putting
into my SRS. I read somewhere (here?) that learning common phrases was a good way to get
a foundation in the language (I'm also reading and working on vocabulary, of course), and
I'm finding that to be true.

The Vocabulearn series is a good value for finding phrases, and I'm wondering if there is
anything else out there like it--maybe a site on the Web that has a collection of short
mp3s of native speakers speaking phrases.

(The 2 languages I'm working on are Japanese and Spanish).

www.tatoeba.org seems like what you're looking for.
rhinospike.com may also fit your needs.

I don't know what went wrong with your URLs, or why they just got tagged on to http://how-to-learn-any-language.com/forum.
They should be:
   tatoeba
   rhinospike

It's because I didn't include the http:// bit at the start -- the forum software doesn't like it.

The forum software does that automatically for you when you use the "external link" button in the "Post Reply" box.
