French with Ease chapters 17 and 18. I have been through Pimsleur Intermediate so these
beginning lessons are going pretty well. I review them again the next morning. I review
the last 3-4 lessons and then do new lesson at night.
Reviewing the White Rabbit Kanji flash cards.

Went through French with Ease Chapter 21.
Working on Kanji. I was reviewing flashcards with my friend and found two kanji for
'inside'. Both pronounced 'naka'. One was more honorific, used only for government etc.
So, I can't even catch a break on kanji. But, 'Read Japanese Today' has been great at
helping to learn kanji. I was explaining the radicals to my Japanese friend. She wants to
borrow the book when I am done. :)

We had a huge storm last Thursday that knocked out power for 51 hours. So it was a crazy
weekend. Taking the kids to my parents and cleaning up after the storm. Luckily no house
damage.
I did manage to get in some studying, but not as much as I would have liked for the
weekend. I finished lesson 23 in French with Ease and read two chapters in hiragana in
Japanese for Everyone.

Ah, those are the two languages I was learning...before I stopped having time for anything other than schoolwork
T_T.
Good luck with your studies!!
I'm on Livemocha too, but I found the lessons to be very boring and far too repetitive (don't get me wrong,
repetition is good, but I thought Livemocha was a little overkill). I really do like their voice recording and writing
and the feedback from other users though, so maybe I'll go back to studying that.
I don't know if you've heard of JapanesePod101.com, but it's a fantastic podcast for learning Japanese. However,
it's best if you get some of your basics down before stumbling into Japanesepod101 because their newer lessons
usually assume that you know some basic things already about Japan/the Japanese language, but it's definitely a
great place to start anyhow!

Hi limerix. I get the JapanesePod101 feed. I also use LiveMocha. I have tried a lot of
them. This site has given me the boost I needed to stop being a casual learner and a
little more serious.
Log update: I am up to lesson 33 in French with Ease. I liked Assimil's approach so much
I got Japanese with Ease. I am up to lesson 29 in that. Mostly review with a few new
words. Usually an alternate word for something I know.
I have a lot on my plate this week. So, I hope to still get in a few lessons.

This gives the idea of being a very useful combination: martial arts with Japanese as a target language. Many people her write about Japanese anime but combining the language with the practise of sports seems to be even more interesting.
I wish you good luck for the study of both languages!

Thanks Fasulye.
It has been a while; but, I knew I would be busy. I was preparing for a black belt test
in iaido (Japanese sword). I passed. :)
Now, I hope to get back to a more balanced schedule. I will spend a few hours today
reviewing the last few lessons in Japanese and French. I have been using my time during
my work commute to listen to language CDs. I will get to the library to see what French
Pimsleur CDs are available.

I did get several hours of study in yesterday. I reviewed 4 lessons of French with Ease
and 1 French in Action video. For Japanese, Hiragana flash cards. I am about 80%
comfortable with hiragana now. I skimped for a little while; but, I know it is for the
best to learn kana and kanji. Also, 2 Japanese with Ease lessons. These are still about
30% new material as I catch up with the Assimil method. So, I have been able to go
through them more then 1 per day.
