Thinking of you in your time of loss.
May your strength prevail to help you through this difficult time.
MT courses will always live on in our hearts; may your memories be your comfort.

I agree cainntear, it seems a really strange idea to package bits of courses with other
courses. I recently worked through the German foundation and advanced, which were
excellent and I cannot even begin to think why they would break these up.
Also I remember that we were recently talking about whether people can really start
speaking a language after two days study and were saying that companies always appear
to claim a bit too much from their products but what the Michel Thomas Perfect and
Michel Thomas Masterclass courses claim now seems to go way further than anything I've
ever read before.
Their site says that "The new Michel Thomas Method range guides you every step of the
way from absolute beginner to total fluency."
I haven't done the vocabulary builders or the language builder. Do they really cover so
much? I didn't bother with them because the reviews were not so good. How much of an
exaggeration is the "total fluency" claim? Also I am just now looking at the levels
they give for each course - after total they say you'll be intermediate, after perfect
you'll be advanced and after masterclass you will be an expert. What does it even mean
to be an expert in French if you can do it so quickly? On the other hand if what they
are saying is true then yippeeee!
But then again if someone took the Total French with Michel Thomas and then followed it
with the Perfect French with Michel Thomas, wouldn't the vocabulary builder get in the
way of the course? In the original courses one things just flowed into another. But now
I bet the courses must have become really pretty confusing. I think you're right. They
may have ruined the Michel Thomas courses.

These new Paul Noble courses might also have something to do with falling sales. I just discovered a blog that highlights some interesting points:

Ironically, Noble is about to release his Mandarin course:

I wonder how close it will be to H. Goodman's MT course.

Well, on his blog, Goodman makes a reference to it, in the comments section, and says he won't be a bit surprised if it's very similar.
It appears there is some skulduggery going on on Amazon with regard to reviews of Paul Noble courses. He's getting negative ones removed.
I'm no fan of MT myself, but I don't think he should be ripped off like this, so smugly and blatantly.

Sadly, the Paul Noble stuff isn't the only one that has "had this problem" - Laurell K Hamilton was having negative
reviews removed until large numbers of people started posting, and complaining to Amazon about it directly
about the fact that the books were being marketed misleadingly and no justification for the removals was being
given. Something similar might help.
I'm curious about trying one of th Paul Noble courses and then posting my own review.

Noble's courses are good, I've had a go at a couple.
I would also be interested to see what the Chinese one is like, one day when I get around
to Chinese. I don't see any release date for it yet though.
Just out of interest, has anyone here got access to any of the new MT courses? I would be
interested to know what the software that goes with it is like. Is it just for the
vocabulary builder or for the courses as a whole?
The reviews on amazon seem to be by people who haven't done the new version of the
course.
