OH! I've just discovered something really cool! I've been scouring the Internet looking for sites in Spanish about my other hobbies (Yes, I have OTHER hobbies!) and I've been recommended to some great sites about Manga, Anime, and Video Games.
The only hobby I've really been indulging in recently is reading select Fanfiction, well I've found an author who has translated several of my favorite fics into...you guessed it, Spanish!!! Oh my god, I'm gonna look up parallel texts now that I have something of interests that I can do them with. Its free and perfectly legal!!! YAY!!! I'm so happy that if I weren't soaking my feet I'd dance around the room!!!

I did it! I had a conversation with a native Spanish speaker today and I did NOT choke! I'm so pleased! I'm going to stick to my regiment of Pimsleur and reading aloud daily, I cant WAIT to start the Summer.
It was a short conversation (I just explained why I had so many balloons and told her that I had to leave some at school) but it was 100% in Spanish (I even knew globo = balloon from my days of random study!) and I offered her a balloon. It was only about 1-2 minutes pero soy muy felic!

I think I missed yesterdays reading/listening. Now that I'm trying to recall it, I cant, but I know that I THOUGHT that I did it before bed...
When I get home, I will have to take a look at my files. Need to be more careful from now on with this one, dont want days slipping by unchecked...Actually, as I write this I KNOW I did my audio listening but I need to check and see if I did Story 7, yesterday.
ALSO: I signed up for Spanish 101 at LiveMocha, I'm going to try and see how long it takes me to work through the first two courses on that site now that I've got (nearly) two semesters of Spanish under my belt and blazing fire of determination at my back-side :).

I'm 2 or 4 days behind on my Spanish routine of reading and Pimsleur but I'm going to try and regain some ground this week and all through the weekend. I haven't given up yet and I'm really psyched because I've spent the morning with several international students who have fairly good English and its really great to see that languages can be learned.
:). Some days I'm just sooo discouraged but the important thing is to just keep at it, I know. I'll try and catch up this weekend with where I'm supposed to be this weekend but the most important this is to just get back on the language-learning horse and ride on!

Anyway, I hope that made sense. I'm looking forward to finals because then it will be over! (Until summer school) but I'm alot more excited about summer classes (only three!) than I am for my Spring classes.
I intend to continue studying Spanish this summer. I want to do an intensive review of the grammar and actually learn all my vocabulary! My computer is really on the fritz lately, I may have to go with Linux permanently...
Either way, its much nicer to be near the end, at at last!

Coping with the Summer Lull
So, I'm on a break from my School Spanish studies and I'm looking for ways to fill the void. I'm trying to do more Audio, I am doing Berlitz Guaranteed Conversational and Pimsleur Level 1 Audio Courses (so far I haven't had any trouble at all with comprehension)
I'm on 6/8 with Berlitz and on lesson 14 of Pimsleur.
I plan to go ahead and push through Pimsleur, which I think is more effective than Berlitz, but Berlitz is more...Actually, its just a nice change of pace. I dont really like the format, I cant really say why, other than it doesn't work for me.
What else can I do to maintain my Spanish, (I want to take a 3rd semester in the Fall) without boring myself?
I dont watch many movies or much TV. I'm going to try and watch more DVD's and Shows in Spanish, but I'm more likely to spend all my free time online, so I guess I need to look for some websites in Spanish about the things that I like.
I'm also looking to get in to Music, but dont know where to start. I know some kids songs but I want some more normal music to listen too...
I read childrens books in Spanish, but dont think I'm ready for an adult novel yet. I think I'll go ahead and tackle that Pocahontas Chapter book that I have...

Off track!
I've totally left off reading from Spanish daily. I'm going to remedy that starting this evening. I want to finish the first part of the book and the first level Pimsleur.
I'm looking to break out of Beginners Spanish (Isn't that a book?) this summer. I'm going to have to work for it, which is a shame, cause I'm naturally pretty lazy. But still, I think that Spanish is worth the effort.
I just realized that if I remain at Jr. College for another year to work on my PreReqs, then hopefully, I can go to Spanish in 2012 and get some about 6-8 credits toward my Spanish minor, so its probably worth perservering.

Okay, I'm getting serious now folks. I cant let my Spanish slip, not after how far I've come!
I've decided to press on, even though Pimsleur is sooo slow!
I need to do a ton of audio, I want to finish Pimsleur, its beneficial to me, but boring. I want to do a lesson a day.
I've checked out
Teach Yourself Spanish and
Spanish Complete Course - The Basics by Living Language, I also want to check out
All Audio Spanish, by Living language, when I get the chance.
I need to do a unit of each of these every day. I want to cement what I learned in class these past two semesters and pick up some more casual language.
I want to get All Audio Spanish when I get the chance, before it was a little advanced for me but I think that after I do these two courses and along with Pimsleur, that i could really benefit from all audio Spanish.
1x Pims
