I'm reviving this. I've been absent from this board all summer and now that I've started Spanish III I need a real routine, someone or something to hold me accountable.

*yikes!*

SPN3 is the sort of class I wanted SPN1 to be, back when I had motivation and needed an actual challenge to keep me interested in the language (I knew 95% of the material in Spanish1)

I'm gonna concoct a new daily regiment. I need to do Pimsleur, Reading, Vocab, and grammar drills daily or this isn't going to be a good time.

Its time, I think, to get busy making labels for everyitem in the house. )_)...I should've done this during the summer, why I didn't think of it, I do not know...

I've got RapidSpanish vol. 2 from the library a product of Earworms/Berlitz today. I'm kind of liking it.

I'm on #12 in Pimsleur (or is it 13? I need to keep better track) and plan to do 2 more lessons this evening. I fell of the routine at around 14, so this is just revision for the most part.

I want to do each lesson about 2x.

I got an 87% on my first SPN3 quiz. I missed two questions, hopefully I did better today on the 2nd quiz :(..

I hate Spn III! My teacher is nice enough, but the book material is lame. The teaching style doesn't suit me at all. I hate it!

I want to speak Spanish! Not conjugate crap till my eyes bleed.

Grrr! At this point, Pimsleur (which I haven't used since my last post) is more productive to me. I'm going to get back with Pimsleur tonight because I really want to complete the first level already!

I'm just really frustrated with where I am linguistically. Really frustrated. Seems like I'm wasting my time and money and energy and good will and enthusiasm sitting in that class room.

So I just completed Pimsluer lesson 13. The grammar is starting to pick up.
I'm going to try and do it at least once more today. I'm trying to continue with a daily dose of Pimsleur. I also have resources for watching and reading in Spanish now so I'm going to try and do some stuff daily.

I have Spanish, Math and Quran, those are my daily study committments. Those are my priorities, but not in that Order. Gotta keep plugging away. TAC is almost over. I already dropped Japanese (Sorry Team!) but it was becoming a source of stress and frustration trying to juggle it, so I had to make a decision concerning that language. Hopefully I'll pick it up again in a few years. I just need to get a handle on Spanish and regain my previous level of Arabic and maintain them both for a while....

Well, I finally completed Spanish I A. The first 14 lessons! (Finally!) I'm starting 15 today and the story seems to be picking up. Hooray!!!

Anyway, hopefully by the 20th, I will have completed the first LEVEL if I stay on target. :)

It will be a great boost of confidence if I can finish atleast 1 level on schedule. I'm starting to enjoy it a little. Its a little more meaningful now, as the grammar is picking up.

We're doing more with numbers and object pronouns.

I got a book :Spanish Made Simple: from the library and am going to try going through the whole thing, It was highly recommended on this guys website as it helped him and he used it for only self study. It follows a story so its a little more interesting and its very thorough.

CROSS POST FROM THE LANGUAGE PLAN THREAD.
Today is the first day I'm putting this plan in motion, but I still can't find my Spanish Reader, so I'm just starting without it. :(...

Also, please note that I currently converse with Spanish speakers and get in as much as practical Spanish use as I can throughout the week. I plan on 'upping' the ante

My Mission In a Nut Shell: To Use up Every Spanish Resource I own this year with
higher retention rates than I got out of SPN Class.

My Materials:
Pimsleur Comprehensive -- 4 levels
Puntos de Partido -- 18 chapters
The Everything Learning Spanish Book
Entender y Hablar
AMR Spanish II --- 2 volumes
Learnables Spanish 1
Realidade Spanish I -- Workbook
Mas Practica Spanish II -- workbook
Spanish Student Dictionary

I've had 3 semesters of College Spanish and I want to minor in Spanish in school but
more importantly I wan't to be fluent in the language, I wan't to drill, drill, drill
the grammar and conversational bits. My biggest problem is lack of consistency and
mismanagement of my time. My aim is to correct that.

I'm determined to finish Pimsleur. I'm on lesson 22 of Level 1 but I find the course
beneficial and fairly easy, especially when I make the time for it. I'm going to get an
MP3 player soon and that should make it MUCH easier to use, instead of having to sit at
the computer.

I'm going to complete The Everything Book of Spanish first. There are 20 chapters and a
CD, it requires minimal writing so I should be able to do a Chapter a day.

Sometime this summer, I'm going to go back through my college Textbook to do more of
the in book examples, just for extra grammar drill...But I'm not sure when.

Step 0, ~10 Days: Finish Pimsleur level 1 and find Easy Spanish Reader. Make time for
Spanish everyday

Step 1, ~30 Days: Pimsleur 2x a day (1 lesson from LV1 and 1 lesson from LV2),
and get through The Everything Learning Spanish book Begin Watching Destinos, 1x
a day

Step 2, ~30 days: Pimsleur 2x a day (1 lesson from LV 2 and 1 lesson from LV3)
Realidades SPN I wkbk*. Record myself reading from the Easy Spanish
Reader
and compare some of my audio from last year. Finish Watching Destinoes 1x a day.

Step 3, ~30 days: Pimsleur 2x a day (1 lesson from LV3 and 1 lesson from LV4**)
Mas Practica SPN II wkbk*, continue with Easy Spanish Reader until its
done. At this point I'm going to begin compiling a list of Spanish language books
available in my school and public library for reading when I feel ready.

Step 4, ~40 days: Spanish II from AMR 1x a day. This is an old course that is
really high quality, it contains 32 audio lessons with a manual. I'd love <3 to
get my hands on LV1 of this program some day. Entender y Hablar is an old
conversationally based Spanish 1 Book contains; 20 lessons + exercises and 4 reviews,
EyH is to be done 100% orally.

Step 5, ~x0 days: Mundo 21 is an Intermediate Spanish college lvl textbook with
24 chapters. I'm going to try and work 1 chapter a week of this book, while doing all
the exercises and activities in the accompanying workbook. Real Books for
Spanish speakers, I'm going to try and read at least 3 a month with a dictionary.

I'm not sure when I'll start officially. Sometime later this month, when I finish
Pimsleur LV1, but I'm going to update my language log and keep track of how much I'm
actually doing there.

This is a great post, and its really helped me to write all this out. I knew in my head
what I wanted

* These workbooks are more grammar than anything, but this is what I need to practice a
lot of. Realidades also contains a reader so I'll be reading from that regularly. I
will not do the audio/video section of Realidades as I don't have the audio etc...
**There are only 10 lessons in LV4 Pimsleur, so I may do 2 lessons from LV3 each
day as review/filler.
Step

Final Note: Throughout this whole stint of study, I'm also going to read as many
childrens books in Spanish as I can get my hands on, begin building a library of
authentic Spanish literature and try even harder to watch TV/DVD's in Spanish every
day, even if just for several minutes. I'm also going to be working my way through the
videos on this site. I'm going to
do the simplified version and about 2 or 3 native examples from each of the 85
categories.
