I'm listening to Sarit Hadad...I must say that I'm proud of myself for expanding my cultural horizons. I used to make fun of mizrahi music mercilessly, but in my old age it's starting to grow on me.
I'm on lesson 22 of Assimil French. I'm getting the same feeling from this book that I usually get from watching films and listening to music and podcasts in target languages, mainly that I'm cheating and not doing real "work." I may even go through the Hebrew course after I finish both volumes of French Assimil. One thing that I should be doing but am not is listening to the recordings. Maybe I'll just put the first disc of recordings into my ipod and listen whilst running today.
BTW google is doing something really cool right now: when I drag my mouse over words I wrote here, a pop up shows various Spanish translations. I also noticed that Google translate includes Georgian now too. Thank you google! Now if you would just give me a job, O.K. thanks.

Hello journal. I'm on lesson 27 of Assimil French and episode 44 of Haalufa (cheesy Israeli soap opera). I'm still on a break from Russian which saddens me. Russian was the first language I fell in love with, and besides Hebrew, is the only other language I feel I have to know.
The problem is that I still have a lot of unfinished business with Hebrew. Hebrew still seems difficult for me, and I know that if I go more than a week or so without using it, I'll start to forget what I do know.
My current plan is to fit as much Hebrew as possible in my life, continue steadily with French Assimil, and dabble with Russian. It would be really cool to reach a good reading level in French so I'd then be able to do the Russian, Yiddish, and Hebrew Assimil courses.
BTW I downloaded Tome 1 of the Hebrew course. It looks like a 1982 edition. In theory there appears to be a Tome 2, which actually would be very useful, but I imagine that it's out of print...I'll have to investigate further.
I'm listening to Yoni Bloch right now and I've developed this major crush on him. Yoni if you are reading this, send me a pm.

Hi again. It's the Assimil course. ISBN 2-7005-0088-1 . Author is Malca Kenigsberg copyright 1982. It says Tome 1, and I believe there is a Tome 2 as well, but I have a feeling that it is out of print.
I saw on your blog that you are/were using Assimil. I assume that you are using a newer edition. I quickly glanced at the edition I downloaded and it looks great but slightly dated.

I've got the latest Assimil Hebrew course that was published in 2007. It's for French speakers. The dialogues and vocabulary are great and very modern.

There is another thread in this forum about L-R and I'd really like to try it with Hebrew. My reading skills don't match my listening and speaking ability and I'd like to change that. I tried a method before where I bought a book in Hebrew with a Hebrew audiobook, but I got really bored and stopped. What people seem to be saying is that you need to find a book that you love and have read in your native language. I am definitely a reader, so I find this method immensely appealing. I'm going to begin searching here and there for some books I would love to read and corresponding audio. I have a feeling that it will be really difficult to acquire interesting materials for this venture, but if I find anything, I'll share with anyone who's interested.

I am still looking for Hebrew L-R materials. I actually do have some texts for Biblical and Rabbinic Hebrew but my motivation is temporarily low for ancient stuff. I'm sure that I'll evenutally be able to find something; Hebrew materials can usually be found but require a lot of digging.

I still haven't found L-R materials for Hebrew yet, but I'm still looking.
I've also kind of ditched French in Action. I'm not sure why; it fits my learning style perfectly. I'm sure I'll return to it at some point.
I'm at Assimil French lesson 34. I'm still in love with this book.
I'm on Episode 58 of Haalufa. I'm supposed to be stopping my computer and writing down the sentence when I don't understand something. I do this about 50 percent of the time. The rest of the time I call and bug my friends for translations. I am honestly suprised that they are still answering my calls.
Today I'd like to do two Assimil lessons and watch three episodes of Haalufa. I'm always looking of new ways to make my life more multilingual. I guess I could start writing in my target languages here. That's the goal, but I'm just too lazy now so I'm doing what I can.
