I'd go for Turkish or modern Greek,
(Not sure if it meets criterion 1, but it would go nice with your Hebrew.)
Hats off for all your endeavours, and whatever you decide, good luck.

Thanks Mooby. I'll definitely consider Greek; there's actually a Greek church a few blocks away from my house, so maybe they teach classes.
I'm in love with Turkish and it certainly has a dynamic culture, but there are very few Turkish people in my city.
Anyway, this is a great problem to have in my opinion and I've got a couple of months to figure it out.

I've narrowed down my selections to Persian, Arabic, Mandarin and Vietnamese.
Out of all four languages, I imagine that Arabic would be the easiest for me to learn at this point. Persian is the language I'm most passionate about.
I've mostly just been watching French movies, keeping up with SRS reps and reading wikipedia. It is going to be a really busy rest of the week, but I'm determined to get through Pimsleur and add a bunch of new cards to my SRS

I've decided to start both Persian and Amharic on January 1 and see which one I stick with. My money is on Persian because the resources seem better. I plan on using Colloquial Amharic because I simply cannot deal with FSI. I have all of the respect in the world for you people who can, but I can't learn languages that way. I haven't checked this out yet, but I'm hoping that there are places on the Internet where I can download TV shows or dubbed movies.
I'm going to do a little bit more Assimil reviewing tonight and then watch a French movie. For some reason I've been stalling with picking up all those novels I bought. I'm a little intimidated, but I know I just have to jump in and enjoy all of these new and beautiful French words.
I had at least 10 Hebrew conversations today. I know I need to find some Israeli pen pals to practice my writing, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

I'm on lesson 4 of Pimsleur Russian 2 and lesson 93 of Assimil French.
I would like to finish Pimsleur and Assimil by the end of the year in order to make a fresh start with new materials in 2011. I really enjoy Assimil so I plan on using it for Russian. I'm not sure if I'll buy the intermediate course for French or just jump into native materials.
I need to buy some new Hebrew books.

Again I've been sick for the past couple of days so I haven't been doing any studying. I did spend several hours yesterday and the day before watching TV shows and I even called my friend and asked him questions about a couple of words when I didn't know them. I also watched Vertigo in French and part of Charade.
I feel a lot better today so I'm going to do some Pimsleur and Assimil.

I am going to Las Vegas again this weekend and then I will spend a couple of days in LA. I think I'll bring my Assimil French and load some Pimsleur Russian on my ipod and hope for the best. I don't think I will be getting any studying done, but I will be traveling with Israelis and they know the rules: Hebrew only!
I've been listening to Chinese rock music for the past hour or so while working and I've fallen in love with the language. I've been listening to this song repeatedly and I can't stop. So I've decided to start learning Chinese characters next year instead of Amharic. I know it's a little bit flippant, but these are matters of the heart.
I'm going to get started with French Assimil and then Pimsleur and SRS reps. I'll be out of commission for a good part of a week so I need to get as much done as possible today.

My trips to Las Vegas and L.A. caused me to get a terrible case of wanderlust (and a little bit of a hangover.) I met some Georgians, I went to Little Armenia and little Tokyo and I drank with Russians, Japanese and Israelis.
I also went to a different supreme master cult restaurant and talked to the proprietors about my dilemma of learning either Vietnamese and Mandarin. They overwhelmingly recommended for me to learn Mandarin even though they are Vietnamese.
I got harassed by one of those Israeli dead sea salesman in Las Vegas and I turned the tables and asked him a Hebrew question.
Fun was had by me and my friends but I'm thoroughly confused about what I'm doing language-wise next year.
