I agree with you about the Spanish dubbing on everything. It almost feels like cheating, it makes learning so
easy...

By the way, I know you're just beginning, but the website lomastv.com is the main thing I credit to improving
my Spanish to near basic fluency within a few months, when I did Spanish immersion. As far as improving
aural comprehension and natural speech is concerned, it's amazing. I only wish they had it for more
languages - it's a great source for sentences.

Thanks Stryozyk, I'll check it out.

So I have no internet connection at home right now, and I'm moving in a week and it will probably take time to
get set up there too. This means that my logs may be slightly less frequent for the next few weeks.

I've been listening to the audiobook constantly, and it's just what I've needed. I understand much less of the
audiobook than what I comprehend from films, so this should be a great learning tool.

I'm still doing Pimsleur Spanish.
I'm watching a lot of Hebrew-language films.
Same old routine.

A couple of Hebrew sentences-phrases: (I'll do more later, but I just realized that I promised someone on here
that I'd post some so here are a few. Also I can't promise that there are not mistakes here, as I transcribe them
quickly and I'm not very detail-oriented.)

תראה, אני מכירה את עצמי קצת יותר טוב ממך
tireah, ani makira et etzme ketzat yoter tov memcha
look, I know myself a little better than you do. (female to male)

תעשי לי תובה
taasi li tova
do me a favor (Israelis say this all of the time)

Shumdavar lo yechol lekrot
nothing could happen

I'm reading through this really interesting website about the Hebrew
language. I'm really really busy with all of my moving preparations, so I'm taking a break from language-learning
until the 2nd or 3rd of January. I'm still keeping my all Hebrew all of the time environment, but have stopped with
the pimsleur until I get settled.

I did get an opportunity to speak both Hebrew and Russian to complete strangers last night, and I can't express
how cool that was! Also another random stranger came up to me and immediately began speaking to me in
Hebrew today...how did she know? <insert joke about size of nose here>

I finished my relocation and should be able to resume Pimsleur. I also have a few more Hebrew disney movies and my book from Steimatzy finally arrived.

There are a lot of Spanish speakers here so I should have no problem getting exposure. There are also a few Spanish-language networks, which I'm hoping will make it easy for me to find enjoyable input.

I've decided that the most important aspect of language learning is finding enjoyable media. This has been a real challenge for Hebrew but I'm doing O.K.

I'm with you on that one. Spent a few hours today on a combo of SRS, Assimil, and a book at www.childrenslibrary.com. The time spent on the book didn't feel like studying.

Hopefully you continue to find Hebrew materials that keep your interest.

nogoodnik,

My language goals are pretty close to the same as yours... I hope to reach basic fluency in both Hebrew and Spanish.

As far as Spanish goes, I have a good program of study.

However, for Hebrew, I'm not totally sure what to do. I'm at a low intermediate level and I'm working through the Shelabim series by Behrman House pbl. I have the FSI program, but it's DENSE. Any suggestions?
