Okay, odd. I've just noticed that Italian 101 is missing in Livemocha. They probably want you to pay for the active. Anyway, because of that, I am now going to use "Italian for Dummies" app on my iPod to get a few sentences and I may go over to Busuu very briefly. Mostly though, it is now time to dive straight into immersing myself in Italian (not completely but just enough to become fluent as soon as possible).

Buongiorno!
How am I learning vocabulary? Okay, I don't like rote memorisation and nor do I like putting effort into anything. The method I am using is the lazy man's way of learning. Whenever I come across a new word, I write it down so I can come back to it as a reference later. Then, I attempt to use it in day-to-day life. For example, tonight for dinner I am not having pasta with tomato sauce but pasta con i pomedori sauce. At the moment that may not make much sense, but it means I now remember both the word for with (con) and also the word for tomatoes (i pomedori). Also, when I walk down the road, listening to Max Pezzali, I don't see lots of red cars but puo' vedere molte macchine rosse. I don't want tea with a bit of milk but te' con un po di latte. I'm learning vocabulary by using the language, not by using flashcards!
Also, I am using lang-8, where I write small sentences in the language and then when they come back I send them to Rhinospike and get them recorded. These then go on my iPod Italian playlist so I can get some more listening practise. As I improve, I won't be writing small sentences but large paragraphs.
Ciao!
James

It's been awhile since we've had an update, how is your language learning progressing? Can you give a progress
report in each language? Keep up the hard work!
