My father just announced me he has registered to the toefl test (english as a second language) and i have only 1 months and a half to prepare it. My goal is to have more than 90 points out of 120. i tend to think my English is good but in reality my skills are far from where they should be. So it's a good oportunity to improve my English and get a decent level

yesterday i have tried a reading test and i completly FAILED it (16/30), the reading part is a really hard exercice since you have to read quickly 3/5 long texts and at the end of the text i don't remember what it was about. (i'm not a great reader even in my native language)
so here is what i plan to do, in addition to the toefl practice test i already have:

Reading: read English books, including the green mile by Stephen King

Listening: listen a lot to radio, BBC radio for instance ( however bbc is a british radio whereas the toefl is an american test, so i would better listen to american radio as well)

Writing: be active on various English forums

Speaking: keep on thinking in English all the time and do a lot of monologue, have some conversation on skyppe with a microphone with american, canadian or british people (i would really appreciate if you accept to do it with me)

i'll practice here English, i'll post essays or upload some records, i want you to correct and advice me

thanks!

ok so here i've written a first essay on a topic i've found, it took me 1 hour to write it, eventhough the writing test last 30 minutes ( nevertheless, i've written 400 words instead of less than 300, so if i write shorter essays, it would take me less time

What are some important qualities of a good supervisor (boss)?

In any corporation, you'll find a supervisor, that is to say somebody who is charged to lead and to manage a team of workers. It enables the plant/the company to have a better production and to be much more effective. Therefore, we can ask ourselves what are the main abilities in order to be a good boss. To answer this matter, several arguments can be raised, i'll described each one successively and i'll try to explain it and illustrate it with some specific examples.

First, a team leader has to give to its labors work to do. Since the company want to be the more productive as possible, tasks must be given to the most gifted employee. As a consequence, the supervisor has to know personally each of his worker, he has to know their abilities, what are the domains they have the most knowledge, in what conditions they are the most effective.
On the one hand, a supervisor is supposed to be motivating. According to his boss mood, the workers will be more or less effective. People are all the more prone to be productive so as someone cheers them up. To do so, the leader should have few skills. First, he has to support and encourage its workers when they do some good work, so they keep on working seriously. Then the supervisor has to create an intimacy between its workers to invite them to work together. Indeed, team works can be much more effective in various situations. Therefore we can conclude the boss has to inspire confidence and to have good socials abilities , he has to be able to make contact easily.
On the other hand, if relationships between its workers are too relaxed, workers won't be concentrated on their work and will start doing stuff they are not supposed to do. For instance, they may chat each others about how they have spent their week-end, they may browse on the Internet to pointless websites with no links with their work. Thus, the manager has to be serious and ruthless, he has to never hesitate to penalize its bad workers employees to prevent the others from being lazy.

To conclude, the more motivating and serious the supervisor is, the better he knows its employees, the better the supervisor is, the better the company production is.

You would be better posting to lang-8.com -- you're more likely to get a quick response.

I'm sure that you can improve a lot at English if you put your mind to it :)

I'm studying French right now and I'd be willing to help you with your English. I'm not at the point where I can speak any French yet...I only just got done studying the phonology haha. I don't have a webcam, but I do have microphone. I guess just PM me if you're interested :D
