Hi everyone!

I'm starting to gather my resources for the 6WC in Spanish, and I'm wondering if anyone has used Pronounce it Perfectly in Spanish? I need all the help I can get with my accent, which right now sounds more American English than Spanish.

Will this program help? Does it have Castilian or Latin American pronunciations?

(So far my plan is to use Assimil, FSI, and either Michael Thomas or Pimsleur. The Pronounce it Perfectly would be to augment that to get my accent up to speed relatively quickly.)

Thanks!

I am surprised nobody has responded yet. I was looking at this program also and wondering if it was any good. I am also wondering if this program will help people of any level.

I'm surprised too. Maybe it's not that popular of a program?

I may take the plunge and order it, and then post a review once I've worked with it for a little while. I'm starting my language study in earnest in May, so I'll decide then.

I have used Barron's Pronounce it Perfetly in Japanese. That was a very helpful resource. The chapters are short, and the information is clearly presented, so you can either work through the course from beginning to end, or you can go to a particular chapter to work on your weak points. They give linguistic descriptions of the sounds, and also use layman's terms and diagrams. And, of course, the audio is very helpful.

I came accross a copy of Pronounce it Perfectly in French in a bookseller's a little while ago. Even though I haven't begun studying French yet, I bought it. French is a language that needs a lot of pronunciation work, and I was pleased with the Japanese course I had used. When I got home, I looked it over, and it seemed to be the same format, but even better. The last chapters have readings and proverbs, etc. So it is a complete pronunciation manual, taking you from pronouncing single sounds to entire passages.

I assume the Spanish course will be similar.

Thanks! That's exactly the information I needed. I just ordered the Spanish version. Hopefully it will arrive before May, as I plan to start studying Spanish May 1.

There was one annoying thing, though. It is romaji only. But it does not matter so much as far as pronunciation goes.

Yeah, I agree, it doesn't matter much. In fact, I think kana and kanji would get in the way, in this instance. I think the best thing about it was the audio. I listened first, read second. I'm interested to see if the Spanish one is as good. And whether it's structered like the French one.
