I’m a student at Stanford University in California and an avid language learner. I know I haven’t posted much here
before but am looking for feedback on a language learning idea using the Cormier method of language exchange
with native speakers.
A couple of my friends and I sat down one day and started talking about language learning and how we wished
we had greater access to Spanish native speakers, so that we could learn from them and they, if they were
learning English, could in turn learn from us.
We liked the idea so much that we went onto build a website that links up language learners with native speakers
through a live video technology inside the web browser. It’s totally free and doesn’t even have ads. I hope to use
this to improve my Spanish with Spanish native speakers.
For example, an American learning Spanish might be matched in a video chat with a Spaniard learning English
inside the web browser. They practice Spanish first and then switch to English when prompted.
Our first “session” went great, with participants from Colombia, Nicaragua, USA chatting together. Our next
session is Wednesday, June 22, 7 PM California time. We also really appreciate feedback. Anyways, will be waiting
at verbling.com
We're trying to do the best we can and really appreciate feedback.
