I'll second psy88's post. I love "La reina del sur". It's based on the novel of the same name by Arturo Pérez-Revérte. I read it six or seven years ago and couldn't put it down. I'm really enjoying this dramatization. It is very well done.

I tried many different telenovelas on univision and telemundo channels, but I found them boring. I guess I am not a big fan of Mexican telenovelas. It seems Argentinian and Colombian shows can keep my interest longer. I would recommend "Padre Coraje", "Resistire", "Vidas Robadas." If you like comedy, Trece has very funny "Los unicos" show. You can find all episodes here:http://www.eltrecetv.com.ar. "El Elegido" is pretty good too (follow this link for all episodes: http://elelegido.telefe.com/secciones/resumenes/).

I've picked up some great recommendations from this thread, thanks guys!
I'm watching the first season of El Cártel del los Sapos online and it's great.

RTVE, the Spanish state broadcaster, have a lot of material available on their website. I've just started watching one called Gran Reserva myself, but there are plenty to choose from, and all free!
