So I was just curious. Modern "Written" Arabic? Is that the same as Modern "Standard" Arabic? Eg: Is Arabic news broadcasted in Modern "Written" Arabic?

Yes, both MSA and MWA are used to describe the written and broadcasted news language.

Gregy - The Hans Wehr dictionary is good, but if you aren't very fluent in the Arabic root system, you might find it frustrating trying to use it at times.
Another, easier (but pricier) dictionary is Al-Mawrid by Rohi Baalbaki. It lists entries in alphabetical order,which makes it easier for beginners to use. You can get it in Arabic-to-English or English-to-Arabic. There is also an Oxford English-to-Arabic dictionary.

I'm working through the FSI MWA course vol. 1, the tapes are very helpful but more than half of the recordings are missing. According to the Readme file the audio for lesson 13 and lessons 15 to 32 should be part of the package but they aren't. Does anybody have them please?
