Hi, I'm looking for some good resources for learning Italian. I have all ready found most of what I need, but I'm still looking for a good Italian-English dictionary, preferably one with sound.

I'm also looking for a list of basic Italian words like the Japanese core 6000, if one exists.

Thanks for any help.

Edit: I forgot to say, if anyone knows a good Italian learners formum please tell me.

@Jimbo: Thanks, that looks useful.

@kmart: This is what I was using before but I wasn't sure how reliable it was. I can't remember what, but something made me feel it was a bit dodgy. Your reccomendation has reassured me though, thanks for the help.

I haven't had any problems with it, I like that it provides so many examples of usage, and there's the attached forum if you're still in doubt.

If you have some cash to splash around, one of my favourite books is "The Big Green Book of Italian Verbs" - again, lots of usage examples. I put heaps of the phrases into Anki to study the verbs in different conjugations and idioms.

Maybe I was just confused by all the examples. It often takes me a while to find the definition. :P

Thanks for the help.

I have Zanichelli: il Ragazzini installed in my laptop. Very good. Can't remember the price, the CD is not expensive.
I rely on online dictionaries for pronunciation
