Yeah, when I first started investigating Destinos, I practically went crazy trying to figure out just what constituted "Destinos!" I emailed people on ebay who were selling their stuff, trying to figure out just what I needed. Two people told me they bought a "kit" that included both books and 7 CDs. One person told me their workbook had 3 CDs. And I saw a lot of mention of the "Listening Comprehension Audio CD" that comes with the textbook. Note that it says "CD" not "CDs". I figured there was one. The "Listening Comprehension Audio CD" is in a fact a set of 7 CDs! Not only that, but the textbook repeatedly mentions the "CD-ROM", in addition to the Listening Comprehension CD. I have no idea what the "CD-ROM" is! And one last piece of weirdness: The 7 CD set that goes with the workbook retails for something in the neighborhood of $60USD. The set of 7 that goes with the textbook retails for about $20USD! What's up with that?

BREAKING NEWS!!! I figured out the key! There are 2 workbooks, I only have the first one: lessons 1-26. There is another set of CDs for the second workbook. I checked some of my workbook exercises against the key, and they seem to match. Great!

Edit: I had a link here that went to a school's web page that had the first eleven Destinos audio c.d.'s online. I put the link here so that people interested in Destinos could hear what the audio c.d's for the course sounded like.

Not totally unexpected the school removed the link from their web page. So I removed the link from the post I had here since the link no longer functioned.

I think I need to explain the above statement I made concerning not acquiring the written material that goes with the Destinos videos.

It isn't that I'm turned off by Destinos. I understand that Destinos is for beginners and is good for listening comprehension, so I can put up with the slow pace. And the story does have a good plot. For me getting the written material now would be overkill in Spanish material. I already have FSI Spanish, Rosetta Stone, Berlitz Think and Talk Spanish audio course and various other Spanish programs. And one day I may add Assimil to the mix. Someone could learn to speak Spanish well with one half of the material I have. So it isn't that I hate Destinos.

In a customer review on Amazon.com someone put together a list of the Destinos material that should be a complete list if someone were to try and get everything that goes with the course second-hand.

This is a Mcgraw-Hill page listing Destinos supplements

I don't know if Andy made it to the excavation cave-in part of Destinos, but he would have really loved that if he hasn't already seen it.

Ah well, that was where Andy gave up on it. It was taking so long to get Roberto (?I think that was his name?) out, I was planning to fly out to Mexico and dig him out myself .... the pace of the plot just seemed to grind to a halt and that, coupled with the fact that even the dialogues seemed slow - never mind the narrator or Raquel's pieces to camera.

The problem was that I came back to Destinos after a long gap and it no longer seemed challenging compared with other resources that I was using.

Andy.

More breaking news about that key, for anyone who might want to use it: I just tried to use it for the first time, and it doesn't work with the newer workbook (second edition of the alternate edition). The key seems to list the tracks per lesson (lesson x, track y) but on the new CDs, the tracks aren't correlated to the lesson they go with, they're just numbered from the first track on the CD to the last track on the CD. Bummer! Back to writing track numbers in the workbook...

Yea, real bummer. Shame the school doesn't mention which edition the key goes with.

By the way John I sent you a private message some time back asking if you were still seeking help for using the FlashGet program and you declined my offer. Well, the way this forum is set up that message I sent you will remain in my private message outbox until you delete it from your private message inbox. So how about deleting the message. T.Y.

How strange! Okay, it should be gone now. Thanks again for the offer.
