Yea, I guess most people would prefer to hear superlatives, rather than insults. Language is part of people's identity and insulting it can affect them.
That said, I think there are very few objective criteria by which you can judge the relative merit of languages. Saying that a language is "ugly" expresses nothing but a personal opinion. I laugh. And maybe teach that person how to count in Finnish "yksi, kaksi, kolme, neljä, vittu" if s/he is particularly obnoxious. :'D

If it's a critique that's pure ignorance, well. they deserve an earful in my opinion.

Oh please.. I'm hardly affected by it. Anyway, even I can't deny that SOMETIMES Korean DOES sound a bit like dogs barking.

We can't expect everyone to share the same opinion, can we?
