Hi,

Here you can download free audiobooks with transcripts. They have tons of fairy tales/fables available (under Hans Christian Andersen, Aesop, and Brüder Grimm), each under 10 minutes in length, as well as some simple novels like Tom Sawyer. You can also try downloading free courses from Deutsche Welle. "Warum nicht?" is a very basic course, but could give you some basis before starting Assimil.
