It seems my little joke was more ambiguous than expected.

His use of maybe was perfectly grammatical. My response was meant to be very tongue in cheek, and what I was trying to communicate is "That sounds like an amazing opportunity, and I think you should go for it". My apologies for the confusion, I would blame the difficulty of talking via text, but I get this in real life as well. :) I tend to deliver my jokes with a straight face, but I'll make an effort to throw in a smiley or a "haha" here and there.

No offense taken, I busted out laughing being corrected on my own post!

Funny thing, today at work they sat in my section on purpose, I will definitely take them up on their offer!
