"Show Biz Tonight" just had a piece that Snooki (from the MTV series "Jersey Shore") is going to use Rosetta Stone to learn to speak Italian, since the next season of the show will be filmed in Italy. Then the commentator said her first words will probably be "Gym - Tan - Laundry"

Do you think RS will use her in commercials? I mean, she needs Rosetta Stone for English first.

Just shows you how RS's advertising blitz puts it into everybody's consciousness as the first place to turn to. I mean, would you expect her to say, "Well, I think I'll start with 'Italian With Ease,' but Assimil doesn't offer 'Using Italian' in English, so I'll probably follow it up with the French version, 'Perfectionnement Italien.'"

So I searched the web and found this:

Pauly D on Italy: Maybe I should get a Rosetta Stone"

The Marquee Blog:

Pauly D on Italy: Maybe I should get a Rosetta Stone...
The rest of the "Jersey Shore" gang may be pumping their fists at the thought of filming their next season in Italy, but Paul "DJ Pauly D" Delvecchio admits he's concerned about culture shock - especially when it comes to GTL.

"I'm nervous, I'm not gonna lie," Delvecchio, who has never visited the country, tells MTV. "I don't know what gyms are like over there, I don't know what tanning's like, I don't know the food, and the language - I don't even speak Italian. Maybe I should get a Rosetta Stone or something."

Delvecchio adds that he hopes the language barrier doesn't put a hitch in his game.

"They got some nice clubs out there, and the women ... they're real Italian women, you know?" he says. "Since I don't speak the language, I don't know how I'm going to talk with them. I'm hoping the smile does the trick. The less words the better. I'm looking forward to the challenge."

Despite his fear of the unknown, Delvecchio can't wait for the adventure to begin.

"I'm excited to see my roots," he says. "I have family in Italy, but I don't speak with them since I don't know the language. My mother still talks to them, though. [And] I know Vinny has family there. But none of us have ever been. It's gonna be fun."

Hope the show picks up the tab; reality TV earnings can’t be enough to support a Rosetta Stone habit.

I have not seen the show (honest), but I can't help feeling this is going to end very badly for Rosetta Stone ....

*puts his hands over a crystal ball* "mmmm yes I see the light now of the future through
my ball. Let my ball show me the way. I predict an epic failure rate and lulz of the
cities of Italy when they go and get embarrassed."

Lol,

As someone who is almost through Rosetta Stone Italian, Level 2... AND someone who has watched more than
one episode of the Jersey Shore (I got caught up in a Season 1&2 marathon once), I have to say that I'm intrigued.
As for Snooki -- I don't think she has a chance. Her personality type just doesn't say to me that she's someone
who has the tenacity to stick to anything past lesson one. Pauly D on the other hand, as someone who has been
able to commit to such things as video games and an extensive physical workout routine may just be able to get to
a useful beginner level of Italian using the simplistic/video-game like Rosetta Stone. Let's just say it's probably the
best bet for any of them, as I can't imagine them with "books".
