I've searched and found a few threads on the Cortina method, specifically regarding the "Conversation in 20 Lessons" series, but does anyone have experience with their comprehensive "Master Linguist" range? I am considering the German version and would much appreciate views on the course.

I haven't used it, but it's my understanding that the "Master Linguist" series uses the same course books as the 20 lesson series, but with audio recordings of the text/vocabulary. They also throw in some gimmicks (like a dictionary you could buy anywhere) to make it look more substantial.

That is about right. I like the Cortina programs. I have the German, Italian, Greek and Portuguese languages in 20 lessons. I especially like the German and Italian. I regard the audio as a bonus.
I think the German Assimil is better value for money but I still like Cortina.

Thanks very much. I'm 38 lessons into Assimil's German with Ease and am really enjoying it, and I was looking for a second comprehensive-range course to work through as a follow-on, and the Cortina program looked promising.

I might pick this book up some time. Added it to my wish list for now.
