Hello everyone

I just wanted to know if someone experiences the same feeling as I do. Let me explain in more details. When I consentrate on one language for 5+ hours I get a very pleasant feeling in my brain (seems in frontal lobe, just above the eyes). In order to get this high I need to actively remember/recollect words, dialogues and writing them down; or doing grammar excerices all this time (tho grammar also involves lots of looking-up of words, thinking about logic behind grammatical structures, etc..)

So the feeling: At some point I feel a slight pleasant pressure on my eyes from the inside of brain. I want to close my eyes but if I do I tend to lose this feeling. If I suddently walk away from learning and read something in other laguage I am fluent at the feeling goes away, so I have to keep concentrating on the grammar just to keep having this pleasure.

The problem is that I have to really concentrate on memorizing/analyzing/producing for 5+ hours or I get no high. Also, if I try to get high later after work then it also doesn't work. So, only on weekends I can get high in this way.

Any thoughts?

The brain likes exercise too.

A better English word for 'high' may be euphoria. 'High' often denotes a negative feeling
induced by drugs. Except when qualified as in 'Runner's High.' Maybe you can coin the
term Language High.

I wonder if I can get the same euphoria by learning and reciting poems for 5+ hours?!

Most people I know would feel exhausted after 5 hours of that level of concentration.

Maybe this is an endorphin high for you. It's known that the body when pushed to extremes
will produce endorphines to keep itself from feeling pain.

Or perhaps it has become a form of meditation for you. The area you describe sounds like
the third-eye. I know when I meditate my focus is drawn there.

Whatever the case, you have my admiration for being able to stay focused for that long.

If I understand a foreing language, I have this kind of feelings.
If I can speak it and make myself understood, it's much better.
It is like learning a secret code.

Does it get harder every time? If so you may be pushing the limits of your brain and
eventually it will impossible to feel good at all, similar to what an addict goes
through.
