I decided to take a look at another course, Haitian Creole and I am surprised at the poor quality of the audio. As I mentioned before, the Indonesian and the Vietnamese courses audio were not perfect but still highly audible (converted from tapes it sounds like). However, big portions of the tapes I previewed for Haitian Creole were sufficiently muffled with a lot of noise, like listening through a wall while in an airplane. I am surprised that anyone would produced much less release audio of this quality. Some files are usable, but some are not. I have tried to use audacity to remove the noise and it can, but I don't think it can unmuffle voices and I think the noise removal only adds to the problem.

Does anyone else seem to have a problem with some of the audio? I am guessing it could be my computer or something so I am curious what anyone else thinks. The audio in total is about 40 hours so would be a good amount of audio practice, though I don't know what the audio is for (dialogues, exercises, etc.). It looks more like a beginners course than either of the other two in my opinion. Thanks again fat-tony for the access.

My unzip program tells me the DLI Persian Farsi zip file has a password. Is that true, or is my file corrupted? If it is true, does anyone know the password?

Thanks in advance for the help you can give.

These files didn't need a PW for me, and didn't need unzipped (just as in a rar pack); I got it from this:

Farsi - Army Phrases (audio only):
http://www.4shared.com/file/129168455/9f9f5001/farsivol1.htm l
http://www.4shared.com/file/129177357/11dd1e4e/farsivol2-4.h tml
http://www.4shared.com/file/129183914/ec1d0fa0/farsivol5-6.h tml
http://www.4shared.com/file/129191847/9ec82153/farsivol7-8.h tml

the other pack, however, that needed the hjsplit never worked for me, even after using the program. so i deleted those. there might be something wrong with em.

The latter is the file to which I was referring. Windows unzip program asks for a password for the file. THAT'S why I surmised that it was either password protected or corrupt. It must be corrupt if it asks for a password that never existed. But, then again, that's why I asked if there was a password.

Perhaps those kind souls who posted the links could tell us which one it is. If it was somehow corrupted, maybe someone could re-post some links for an uncorrupted version. That would be greatly appreciated because Farsi is such an interesting language.

I realize that I'm not in a bookstore, that I am not a purchaser of these materials, and that I don't have any particular right to anyone's help or assistance. However, I am asking kindly (with hat in hand) for some assistance in the matter.

Thanks in advance for any attention given to this problem.
